Overview of ESI Registration
Employee State Insurance (ESI) registration is a mandatory requirement not only for companies but also for all establishments in India employing 10 or more workers who earn up to Rs. 21,000 per month. This scheme, governed by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), aims to provide comprehensive social security and health insurance benefits to employees and their families. Benefits include medical care, maternity, disability, and dependent support, with contributions made by both employers and employees.
The ESI registration process is entirely online and must be completed within 15 days of the establishment employing the requisite number of workers. Upon successful registration, the establishment is assigned a 17-digit unique identification number. Employees, in turn, receive an ESI card that allows them access to a wide network of ESIC hospitals and medical facilities nationwide, ensuring broad healthcare coverage and support.
